Wheat Ridge is a 24-hour emergency/critical care, specialty, and primary care veterinary hospital dedicated to providing compassionate medical care to the dogs and cats entrusted to our care. We understand that your pet is a part of your family and we strive to treat you and your pet with the utmost empathy and respect for your relationship and bond.
Our veterinary team is committed to maintaining regular and open lines of communication with yourselves – the pet owner – and your family veterinarian. We are proud to provide our clients with timely access to the most advanced veterinary specialists and emergency services available today. At Wheat Ridge, you can rest assured that your pet is always in the reliable care of an experienced veterinarian.
Together, our team works to ensure that patients receive the best care and follow-up treatment possible. This could entail maintaining communication with your referring veterinarian if your primary care veterinarian is not located at Wheat Ridge, or a seamless transfer from our satellite Emergency Care Center in Wash Park (if needed) with no 2nd intake fee or paperwork.
At Wheat Ridge we understand and respect that your pet’s quality of life is about more than just his or her physical well being. Alternative options to traditional medicine are available for pet owners seeking rehabilitation medicine for their pets.
Wheat Ridge is equipped with sophisticated surgical facilities and comprehensive diagnostic capabilities, including digital radiography, ultrasonography, endoscopy, CT, MRI, ocular ultrasound, electrodiagnostics, in-house laboratory and pharmacy.
In 2017 we built a brand new hospital. We were founded in 1955 as a one-person general practice, Wheat Ridge Animal Hospital merged with Denver Veterinary Specialists in 1994 to combine the general practice and specialty referral practice. In 2016, Wheat Ridge Animal Hospital, along with three other veterinary groups, joined to form Ethos Veterinary Health. Wheat Ridge Animal Hospital has held accreditation with the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) since 1963 for general practice and became one of the first hospitals in the U.S. to be accredited through the AAHA Referral Standards in 2008.
Patients referred to a specialty service at Wheat Ridge by a referring veterinarian will be treated only for the condition for which they were referred. No routine procedures, such as vaccinations or heartworm testing, will be performed on any referral or referral emergency patient.
